Just Passin' Through



I hope I don't get in trouble for sharing this video. It is one of my favorites. No more than a commercial, but one that is fairly powerful in terms of truisms. Not that I believe in playing more, but life IS short. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as being shot out of the womb and landing X number of years later in our graves. There is definitely a lot of living between the beginning and the end here on Earth.


What are we doing in our dash time? I am sure you have all seen that before. You know, that dash between your birth and death date. We do live for a purpose. We live to fulfill His plan. Not just in our own individual lives, but within the context of the larger picture of His plan.

It is easy to see that He has been faithful to you and me. How easy is it to see that you have been faithful to Him? Take the first step ~ Tell a friend about His faithfulness.

35 years???? My how time flies!


Back in the olden days, perhaps long before any of you were born, I meet this girl at school, Connie, whose path crossed with mine quite often. Eventually that path was tied, when I married her brother, Wayne. Here we are 35 years later, high school long since over, our own children all grown up, celebrating their mother's 75th year.



It is so unbelievable that one of my best friends actually became my mother-in-law. We actually worked together for a few years before I ever met lover-boy. The story goes (according to me) that Ms Virginia paid Wayne to take me to the movies. Now was that because she loved me so much or because she felt at 23 I was fast becoming an old maid?

Yes, my Mommasita is 75. She was 40 back in those days. When she asked about her figure, I told her quite matter of factly, "Virginia, you have a matronly appearance." ROFLMAO still to this day. When I turned 40....i learned quickly that I too would have been offended if some young kid told me that!! I didn't have a clue back in those days, I really didn't.

Most of the youngsters today don't have a clue either. But you know...those kids are smart, too. They are highly technical multi-taskers. Clueless multi-taskers. Kind of scary.

My favorite daughter ~ Ashley ~ and I, after watching videos of the birthday party, have come to the conclusion it is now time to do something about our weight. Like I told her, at least she's not fat, ugly, AND old. Soooo its back (yes, back) to the gym. She's good. She's up to 60 minutes on the eliptical. Not to shabby. I keep offering her sandwiches ~ I just don't want to be the only fat one around. Old, fat one to boot.

The there is Wayne. He's dropped 15 lbs on the treadmill. He's fast becoming the hottie he was 30 years ago, even with gray hair. Nice. LOL


Before you go to bed tonight and when you rise tomorrow morning, Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him in the valleys and in the mountains. He has been true to His children. He is the Lord and giver of life. Praise Him for life-everlasting.

Rrrrrrrring....."It nearly brought me to tears."

Can you believe it. I heard from two listeners at the Spring Ring 2008 this past weekend who said, "It nearly brought me to tears." Hey now! DON'T even go there. They were expressing how emotional the music made them. It was very, very, good.

By 9:15 that morning, I was ready to go home. I never heard anyone count a rythmn as fast as our two guest conductors did. Mel and his daughter Cindy Tulley. Both are exceptional. and I know I learned a lot from them. Faster, Faster,,,,1,2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3+4+,1+2+3+4+.....this is from the girl in college who could not walk and clap at the same time. White people can jive...I am living proof. I may just be an idiot savant....but I got rythmn!!!!

3 Cups of Dog Food!


Three cups of dog food. That is ALL. Only 3 cups. With a half-can of wet.

Don't mind me.....just ranting after Amelia's latest visit to the dog doctor.
Jake. The Great Dane. He's a cool dog, but like most (fortunate) grandchildren, he has been left in the care of the gran'mama and gran'papa. So, hearing it straight from the Vet now, we are to feed him exactly what it says on the bag. Can't put any extra weight on him, he may develop hip problems.
Why not, its not like he has any other problems that we have to contend with. Like hopping straight up into the air to see the busy little children with flailing arms on the other side of the fence. Oh how he would love to lick them! Running, 65 mph, zooming around the perimeter of the yard, in between patio posts, around the empty tramp hole, running, running, zooming. No we don't have cow's out there, that's Jake's excercise path.
Sneaking up on the great granma's of the world hoping to overpower them. I am sure he is convinced they were put on this earth for his entertainment. And then there's the sleeping bag, he was trying to sneak out side. I mean, here's this 3.5ft at the shoulder Jake, high-stepping through the house, rolled sleeping bag in his mouth, attempting to quietly get outside where he had every intention of sliming it. Let's talk drool. They are nasty! The hang down kind that makes you squirm when you see him coming towards you.
Ah, but we love our little Jakey. Ask him, I am sure he'll tell you. Best of all, he loves us back.

Why, please 'splain, why am I watching this???? I am not even a Democrat!

Oh but I do like the red dress with the roses down the side. Can't tell ya who was wearing it, but it was pretty.

Tomorrow approaches. I gotta work, can you believe that? For four days straight. Yikes. After last week, I definitely have moved into retirement mode. But not yet, not yet, gotta bide my time....be patient. Steady now. That reminds me, there is some hair color waiting in the other room for me. I just need to be a new me tomorrow.

Hillary Swank has quite a long neck. It must be the Versace'.

I should go to the movies more often.

Kickin' around

When you get old and have bunches of vacation time you can burn it off and it makes the week oh so much more enjoyable. For the last month or so I have been taking off an hour every day, getting off at 4 instead of 5 and still having the luxury of every other Friday off. And today is one of those Fridays. What a week. Off Monday for the holiday, off Wednesday for the fun of it, and now off Friday. I think I will be able to slip into retirement quite nicely.

But I gotta get over this getting up at 5 am thing.

Wednesday was spent dropping my brother in law, Carlys, off at LAX. Sounded like a perfect reason to take a day off from work. So we, Carlys and his mother, Virginia, my Mommasita, went to LA. It was great. After dumping him out on the sidewalk, we headed up the Pacific Coast Highway and took in the sights and sounds of the beach. It was a grey, rainy, day and we enjoyed most of it from inside the car. But we did buy some new carrots from a farmer's market that made for a delicious supper when we got home. It was just nice to drive along and visit.

Today, though, its me and she, and Wayne! A whole day lies ahead of us and those two are still in bed. I'm just soaking up the morning. And the coffee is good, too. That rain I told you about a couple of days ago is here. And we are getting plenty. Kind of messes up going out side, but the earth is drinking it up and turning green. Beautiful.

My Nancy's home from the hospital/rehab trip she made this last month. And the good news is she walked up the stairs (steep and plenty) to her apt. without assistance and without oxygen. Yahoody, God! And here's another one, my friend that had a lumpectomy two weeks ago is back at work, doesn't have to have chemo, may not need radiation, and told me she "felt the prayers said for her in the peace and comfort and calm that came over her before the surgery." That, my friends, is amazing. Keep her in your prayers, please, that she develop a personal relationship with Jesus... I am sooo excited for her!. Prayer. He hears, He listens, He acts. No way around that!!

May our hearts and minds be strengthened in Him.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President

You know, ol' Abe kind of got skunked when they paired his birthday with George's and called it President's Day.

February is an important month. It is the month of black silhouettes and heart shaped stained glass cut outs. And white paste that tastes like peppermint. Stove-pipe hats and of course the drummer in the drum and fife corp of the Revolutionary Army. Don't forget the Groundhog! Ball 'em up into one and you get Love a Furry President Day.

So Happy Birthday, Abe and George. An honor it has been to have you as our most memorable Presidents in this Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. Salud.

hmmmm.....shish kabob sounds good to me.
