When you get old and have bunches of vacation time you can burn it off and it makes the week oh so much more enjoyable. For the last month or so I have been taking off an hour every day, getting off at 4 instead of 5 and still having the luxury of every other Friday off. And today is one of those Fridays. What a week. Off Monday for the holiday, off Wednesday for the fun of it, and now off Friday. I think I will be able to slip into retirement quite nicely.
But I gotta get over this getting up at 5 am thing.
Wednesday was spent dropping my brother in law, Carlys, off at LAX. Sounded like a perfect reason to take a day off from work. So we, Carlys and his mother, Virginia, my Mommasita, went to LA. It was great. After dumping him out on the sidewalk, we headed up the Pacific Coast Highway and took in the sights and sounds of the beach. It was a grey, rainy, day and we enjoyed most of it from inside the car. But we did buy some new carrots from a farmer's market that made for a delicious supper when we got home. It was just nice to drive along and visit.
Today, though, its me and she, and Wayne! A whole day lies ahead of us and those two are still in bed. I'm just soaking up the morning. And the coffee is good, too. That rain I told you about a couple of days ago is here. And we are getting plenty. Kind of messes up going out side, but the earth is drinking it up and turning green. Beautiful.
My Nancy's home from the hospital/rehab trip she made this last month. And the good news is she walked up the stairs (steep and plenty) to her apt. without assistance and without oxygen. Yahoody, God! And here's another one, my friend that had a lumpectomy two weeks ago is back at work, doesn't have to have chemo, may not need radiation, and told me she "felt the prayers said for her in the peace and comfort and calm that came over her before the surgery." That, my friends, is amazing. Keep her in your prayers, please, that she develop a personal relationship with Jesus... I am sooo excited for her!. Prayer. He hears, He listens, He acts. No way around that!!
May our hearts and minds be strengthened in Him.
