Double Nickles: oh-one, twenty-seven

eeeeyup. its my birthday. yesterday i was in a meeting with my boss and i asked him if he knew of a different version of silent night, holy night; one that my sister-in-law learned as a child, 45 or 50 years ago. well my boss, he is a musician's musician...he is really really smart and of course he knew of it AND was able to find it, even. it was in a very old, very very, really really old book. we looked blankly at each other. lol. we both agreed we really did mean to live this long, however, we never thought we would "have the privilege" of saying to another, "i can remember 50 years ago..." or "when i was a little...., 50 years ago."

eeeeyup...i can remember 50 years ago. i can't remember yesterday. my marbles are dull and have lost their finish. they are chipped, but not broken; scattered, but not totally lost. in the words of my mother...."have not lost my facilities, yet!"
yeah right. sit down. you're old. wise, maybe, but the facilities...well their doors are closing.

age does have it's privileges. i think i am now a senior citizen at most places. i find myself conserving energy...not only my own, but making sure the thermostat is down, and double-paned windows are closed. don't forget to pull the blinds to regulate the heat. how about turning off the lights when you are not using them. i count change to pay at all drive thrus (a habit i actually started 5 years ago). i spend time on fatwallet.com looking for "daily deals". i clip coupons...and even use them. my favorite saying is, "well, that is not how we used to do it." i don't want to learn anymore...i am having trouble with stuff falling out of my brains now....it has to be overload.

yeah, i am 55. i am alive. i am blessed. life is good. God is better.

have a happy birthday, me!
