"She's a Bri-ick House"

Okay I am averaging 3 days a week on my bike for approximately 20 miles a day.  5 of those miles are what I call piddle-fart miles, time spent with a friend pedaling while we talk of the prior day and what the day ahead will require of us.  We do ride at 4:00 am and I am sure we are getting some points for that alone.  I do the piddlefart ride regardless of whether I bike to work or not.  But on the way to and from work, I am pedaling an avg. of 15 miles per hour for 22 to 25 minutes.  Now look, I don't want to be a sad-sack, but my legs are aching and quite frankly, I am feeling beat up for nothing.  I have not lost a pound.  Not one.  And I can not swear to you that I have lost any inches.  I have basically ridden my ass off, withstanding the stares of passers-by, who I am convinced sing, "she's a brick house" as I ride by.  I don't want muscle!!!  Well, I do, but not two tons of it.  I live in fear of looking like The Hulk on a bike.

Somebody, puh-leeeeeez splain to me...........if i don't have any thyroid, i don't have any metabolism.  If I don't have a metabolism, how can I up it to lose weight?  In essence, I have this feeling that EVERYTHING, good, bad, or otherwise, that I eat is retained on my bones, except for what explodes from my body every couple of days or so.  I am not gettin' it.  Help me out.  I have a feeling I am riding for nothing.  I take thyroid meds....so I must have thyroid juice in me.  I get tested, the doc just reduced it 6 weeks ago cause I was running on the high side of normal.  I haven't heard from him so I guess I am "normal.  So if anyone has any appropriately related info,,,lay it on.

As for me, I'll be back at it in the am.

Keep riding. Even if you're not losing weight, your body will work better if it's in tune. :) That's all I got, Geo - sorry. Ask the doc?

Sorry I missed your posts for the past few days, but I've been really entertained by the udda brudda's 3-weekday visit to the Thought Dock. Anyway, about 15 years ago, I started cycling for exercise. I averaged about 100 miles of riding per week over the hills and through the winds of the High Desert. Never lost any weight, but I felt good. I loved it and my goad was to ride from home to Vegas some day over a few days. Never followed through on that one though. Anyway, keep it up. Even though you, like me, will never be skinny, you'll live longer and better.
