This Is It

8 hours. That is all it is going to take to end 30 years w/ the County. Boom. Done. Just like that. I'm going in late. I told them I will be there when I am ready to show up. And then I'm going to THE Meeting, a monthly staff meeting for all the managment...ugh. But it is THE LAST one for me. yes! Precisely at 3:00 pm, I am leaving....and heading out to the Retirement Board. (I don't even know where it is located ~ never needed to know before, ya know.)

Yesterday was Cookie Day. It was great. My kids, the original welfare babies, came and celebrated with us. I can not wipe the grin off my face. One of the old geezers that work there stopped me as I was going into the building the other morning. He said, "Ya know, Georgia, you have changed. You not only smile when you are leaving the building, you are smiling on your way in." I just can't seem to wipe this silly grin off my face. Better yet, I can't seem to get the song out of my heart.

So today I close the books. Geez, do you realize I have 30+ Employee Performance Evaluations? Do you realize I have given more than 30+ EPR's to my staff over the years? And I have had the very best of staff. Cohesive, loyal, dedicated, beautiful people. They do good work. I will miss them.

And memories. I get to take them all. The good ones far out weigh the bad. It's easy to look back.

Tomorrow...my new job begins. How good is that!?!?!
