Starry, Starry, Night

Yesterday was different.

I went to a funeral of the husband of a church friend. Our friend has often brought concerns for her husband's health and well being to our Sunday School class. We have prayed for him for a few years now to have the pain he has endured each day for a very long time.

Jesus called for him last week and we rejoiced in his new pain free life. Seriously, rather unexpected, but truly an answer to prayer. He was her testimony. Every Sunday she prayed for his assurance in Christ and waited for the miracle. His resurrected life to live with his Savior is the miracle. Calm. Peaceful. Comforted. We celebrated his life past and his new life he lives now.

And we look forward to the day when He will return and lift us all up. "Come Lord Jesus, quickly. Not one of us who waits will be disappointed." Our Pastor uses those words when he opens his Sunday services. Odd to unfamiliar ears. But think about it. Aren't you waiting? Aren't you anticipating Him? I am. Got lots to do here between now and then, but I wait eagerly for Him.

And finally, have you ever looked up to a starry night and wondered about the vastness? The heavens were created for us. Not one star is out of place or missing. Have you ever considered that?

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls them each by name.
Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
