To Do or Not To Do

tonight it was kung pao chicken from costco. all prepared. you know, heat and eat. but not a "tv dinner" because it was enough to feed an army. is that cheating or what. why do i feel guilty? for one thing, although it was passable to put into the lunch box of da man for his late dinner on the night shift, it seems hardly acceptable to slop it onto a plate and declare "dinner!" i really don't know who it is i am trying fool here. but our bellies are full. and there are only a few hours before we start our late night entertainment....uh...yeah...in bed and asleep by nine has always been my motto. well most of the time it is 10 or 10:30 but going past that there is only a very slim chance that i will be out biking at 4am. so here it is now after 7. i am blogging. i have to do my bills today. or. well you know. they wont be on time and our credit score will be at an all time low. which is really neither here nor there right now, but eventually one just might need a more than decent credit score. life is funny. when it is all my time, i have no problem doing nothing. but when it comes to shared time, well i guess thats where i see the there is a need to be more responsible...not to myself, but to the others involved. so pop over to Beth's Page to her post today and see why this post this night. is doing something better than doing nothing???
hmmmmm.....seems to me one might better take that stand especially in cases of life or death situations. otherwise....doing nothing works.....but not for long. and when you are always having to spend time catching up with yourself, you soon run out of time to do nothing. so, yeah...do something.

loop de loop

today starts a new job for one amongst us. after 14 years, 10 on the night shift, a new place to hone his skill. its like getting a kid ready for his return to school after a long hot summer. the only thing that is missing is the little bow tie and a back pack. but it is different after all these years. a little bit nervous, but not like when we were kids. back in those days our shyness could have easily killed us if we had given over to it. this time, it starts with a handshake and the willingness to learn anew. i am excited for him.
and tonight....well not tonight,,,,,but before the week is out i just know dinner will be served. after 10 years of not having to fix dinner, its back into the kitchen for one amongst us. tonight though, lol, i just wont be here to do it. places to go, people to see, and things to do.
vaya con dios...

Guess what

the week before i left for Dallas i welcomed four new staff to my supervision. a new unit of people doing tasks completely unrelated to what my other staff do. there is not even guilt by association. i must say i have been so very busy for the last three days i have 7 of 8 cw puzzles sitting on my desk untouched. yes. untouched. i have not even had a chance to pee during the day.
im hoppin'.
don't take me back to those days, please please, don't make me go back. i like cw puzzles.
so now my quest is to find BALANCE.
i feel like a drunk staggering through the streets. first tripping over my feet to the left, then back to the right, taking all the newness in, analyzing, contemplating, why, how, why not. it makes my brain cell tired.

Starry, Starry, Night

Yesterday was different.

I went to a funeral of the husband of a church friend. Our friend has often brought concerns for her husband's health and well being to our Sunday School class. We have prayed for him for a few years now to have the pain he has endured each day for a very long time.

Jesus called for him last week and we rejoiced in his new pain free life. Seriously, rather unexpected, but truly an answer to prayer. He was her testimony. Every Sunday she prayed for his assurance in Christ and waited for the miracle. His resurrected life to live with his Savior is the miracle. Calm. Peaceful. Comforted. We celebrated his life past and his new life he lives now.

And we look forward to the day when He will return and lift us all up. "Come Lord Jesus, quickly. Not one of us who waits will be disappointed." Our Pastor uses those words when he opens his Sunday services. Odd to unfamiliar ears. But think about it. Aren't you waiting? Aren't you anticipating Him? I am. Got lots to do here between now and then, but I wait eagerly for Him.

And finally, have you ever looked up to a starry night and wondered about the vastness? The heavens were created for us. Not one star is out of place or missing. Have you ever considered that?

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls them each by name.
Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

35 LBS

that is the weight of the Stephen Leaders Training Manual. A series of folders containing scripted lesson plans along with program information and resources compiled to meet every imagined ~ and probably unimagined ~ need of a Stephen Ministers group. Five-hundred-sixteen participants from all over the US, a couple from Canada, and a Pastor from Botswana. 150 denominations represented; all people with a passion for serving others. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. We were busy for six days, starting at 8:30 am and going through 5:00 pm. A couple of the nights we even went back for evening sessions. I dubbed our team, that is Margaret and I, "Sponges for Christ" as instructions from our congregation's Ministry Leader sent us forth to gather all the information offered. And we made friends!

Does your congregation have a Stephen Minister team? Is there one in a church nearby. If not, here is a wonderful opportunity to share your heart for Christ with others in need. Perhaps you need a listening ear. Every contact is confidential. Stephen Ministers are trained to listen, alert to resources available to help, and mostly they are there to present the face of Jesus to those who need to see Him.

While a the training, I saw not only His face, but "Kindness" personified. It was beautiful. Not sickening sweet, but assertively attentive.

My journey continues. At the helm, my Lord and Saviour. I may be able to provide the care, but He provides the cure. For me. For you.

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4: 1 - 6.

Ponderance

How long does a baby rabbit's legs have to be?

Why would anyone ask that question. BECAUSE it is a riddle.

Here's one for the mathematician amongst us.
There were two ducks in front of a duck and two ducks behind a duck, and one duck in the middle. How many ducks were there in total?

Okay how about this one....
Why did the clock in the cafeteria always run slow?

And one more.
What 11-letter English word does everyone pronounce incorrectly?

Okay y'all think that over. Im out of here for a week.

Be good.
