3 Cups of Dog Food!

Three cups of dog food. That is ALL. Only 3 cups. With a half-can of wet.

Don't mind me.....just ranting after Amelia's latest visit to the dog doctor.
Jake. The Great Dane. He's a cool dog, but like most (fortunate) grandchildren, he has been left in the care of the gran'mama and gran'papa. So, hearing it straight from the Vet now, we are to feed him exactly what it says on the bag. Can't put any extra weight on him, he may develop hip problems.
Why not, its not like he has any other problems that we have to contend with. Like hopping straight up into the air to see the busy little children with flailing arms on the other side of the fence. Oh how he would love to lick them! Running, 65 mph, zooming around the perimeter of the yard, in between patio posts, around the empty tramp hole, running, running, zooming. No we don't have cow's out there, that's Jake's excercise path.
Sneaking up on the great granma's of the world hoping to overpower them. I am sure he is convinced they were put on this earth for his entertainment. And then there's the sleeping bag, he was trying to sneak out side. I mean, here's this 3.5ft at the shoulder Jake, high-stepping through the house, rolled sleeping bag in his mouth, attempting to quietly get outside where he had every intention of sliming it. Let's talk drool. They are nasty! The hang down kind that makes you squirm when you see him coming towards you.
Ah, but we love our little Jakey. Ask him, I am sure he'll tell you. Best of all, he loves us back.
: )

Grammys Shmammys...Oh wait its the Oscars

Get off the TV!

Why, please 'splain, why am I watching this???? I am not even a Democrat!

Oh but I do like the red dress with the roses down the side. Can't tell ya who was wearing it, but it was pretty.

Tomorrow approaches. I gotta work, can you believe that? For four days straight. Yikes. After last week, I definitely have moved into retirement mode. But not yet, not yet, gotta bide my time....be patient. Steady now. That reminds me, there is some hair color waiting in the other room for me. I just need to be a new me tomorrow.

Hillary Swank has quite a long neck. It must be the Versace'.

I should go to the movies more often.

"Thank you so much for joining us."

Have a wonderful week!

Kickin' around

When you get old and have bunches of vacation time you can burn it off and it makes the week oh so much more enjoyable. For the last month or so I have been taking off an hour every day, getting off at 4 instead of 5 and still having the luxury of every other Friday off. And today is one of those Fridays. What a week. Off Monday for the holiday, off Wednesday for the fun of it, and now off Friday. I think I will be able to slip into retirement quite nicely.

But I gotta get over this getting up at 5 am thing.

Wednesday was spent dropping my brother in law, Carlys, off at LAX. Sounded like a perfect reason to take a day off from work. So we, Carlys and his mother, Virginia, my Mommasita, went to LA. It was great. After dumping him out on the sidewalk, we headed up the Pacific Coast Highway and took in the sights and sounds of the beach. It was a grey, rainy, day and we enjoyed most of it from inside the car. But we did buy some new carrots from a farmer's market that made for a delicious supper when we got home. It was just nice to drive along and visit.

Today, though, its me and she, and Wayne! A whole day lies ahead of us and those two are still in bed. I'm just soaking up the morning. And the coffee is good, too. That rain I told you about a couple of days ago is here. And we are getting plenty. Kind of messes up going out side, but the earth is drinking it up and turning green. Beautiful.

My Nancy's home from the hospital/rehab trip she made this last month. And the good news is she walked up the stairs (steep and plenty) to her apt. without assistance and without oxygen. Yahoody, God! And here's another one, my friend that had a lumpectomy two weeks ago is back at work, doesn't have to have chemo, may not need radiation, and told me she "felt the prayers said for her in the peace and comfort and calm that came over her before the surgery." That, my friends, is amazing. Keep her in your prayers, please, that she develop a personal relationship with Jesus... I am sooo excited for her!. Prayer. He hears, He listens, He acts. No way around that!!

May our hearts and minds be strengthened in Him.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President

You know, ol' Abe kind of got skunked when they paired his birthday with George's and called it President's Day.

February is an important month. It is the month of black silhouettes and heart shaped stained glass cut outs. And white paste that tastes like peppermint. Stove-pipe hats and of course the drummer in the drum and fife corp of the Revolutionary Army. Don't forget the Groundhog! Ball 'em up into one and you get Love a Furry President Day.

So Happy Birthday, Abe and George. An honor it has been to have you as our most memorable Presidents in this Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. Salud.

hmmmm.....shish kabob sounds good to me.

A Different Kind of Sunday

No Pastor D today ~ Marv instead. Communion. No Paul, but the choir sang its praises just as if he were there. Guy walked Wayne and I through his proposal to create a software program that would help one determine just how spiritually mature one is and to open oneself to further growth and measurement. Interesting. No kids. Telephone calls instead. : ( And then come's Brian to play pool with Wayne. Of course he ate dinner with us. : ) We would have it no other way. Beautiful weather, and there is rain coming. It will be a welcome change.

No work tomorrow. Yay!

Much about Thursdays

I have never taken Thursdays too very seriously. The way I look at it, Thursday is the best day of the week. What ever happens on Thursday doesn't much matter, because Friday generally is a wash and by Monday, no one remembers or cares about what happened on Thursday. But then you get a Thursday like today and it just sparks.

Today is Valentines Day. I was at Albertsons at 6am when they opened to buy food for lunches. At the door waited about 20 men, who dashed into the store as soon as the door was unlocked to buy VALENTINES GOODIES. Geez, they really do wait until the last minute. What a kick. Flowers! Balloons! Stuffed animals! Wine! Of course it was packed by the time i got to the check out lines. I had to pay for my card. : )

We, that is me and my man, Wayne, exchanged our cards. We squeezed the foot on the little Valentines Day bear we got from Hallmark, kissed and went our separate ways for the day. When I finally did make my nightly call, he asked me if I got the flowers. WHAT FLOWERS??? I had not received them...but now I have a real good reason to look forward to going to work tomorrow. I'm excited. Flowers from Wayne has been an extremely rare occurrance in our 29 years. Yahoody. I love Wayne.

Okay, so I went to see Nancy today. She's in rehab now....She tells me that she has run into a friend of ours, Judy, who retired a while back, who is in the rehab center recovering from a heart attack. We headed down to the dining room to meet up with Judy who had not yet arrived. While standing in line, Nancy points her out as she, escorted by her family, makes her entrance into the dining room. OMG!!! When I saw her i cracked up laughing . When I stepped into the lobby of the center, I was greeted, by this woman who I thought might have been a couple of bubbles off who said to me, "Hey! What are doing coming into this place???" I thought maybe she was trying to "escape" from facility so I moved around her and only mumbled that I was going to the front desk. After signing in, I looked up to see that the bubble-less woman was gone. Well she hadn't gone to far. SHE was Judy. I laughed soooooo hard. And she did too, because she knew I hadn't recognized her up at the front. Who would have ever thunk it...that we would all meet again...in a rehab center following such illnesses. My prayers are with them both.

And then the very best thing about Thursday nights is its "Survivor" night. I love survivor, even going into the 16th season. Always something to talk about at the water cooler.

Yeah, Thursdays are not to be taken lightly.

This one...this one is for you, Beth

mostly because I believe you are the only one reading this. LOL and since you are enjoying it, i'll keep writing. I have sent the link out to some others, but if they are reading, they have not said anything. I can't believe that anyone would find this interesting, but, it's fun.

I do wish you could come hear me ring. Maybe someday, we'll get a good recording and I'll send it to you. Wayne thinks its utterly boring. However, since we have gained a director this year, we really have improved. He even said so. Incentives I think God just smiles when He hears us....maybe He even eyerolls, I don't know.

Beth Moore....do you (all you other readers) know Beth Moore? She is an awesome teacher. If you get hungry for The Word, find yourself a Beth Moore Bible study. They are awesome. She cuts no slack in her ministry. She tells it like He is. He loves you and me. He does. And that, is a fact, Jack. (Just in case Jack is reading this.)

Over and out...
