today we celebrated the life of the husband of a long-time employee. an employee, who retired a couple of years ago to be with her husband through what was thought to be his final stages of cancer. he was given six months and lasted 36. and before he was taken up he was able to profess the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. a pretty cool life-story. but what i wanted to share with you after this long, emotionally draining week was a story pastor shared. i think its a question that comes up more often than not, and today my question was answered in a way that i fully understand from many different angles. so i am going to share it with you.
a mom was working in the kitchen when her young son asked, "mom. mom, what is it like to die?" the mom couldn't just pop out and answer such an all consuming question so she went into the bathroom for some prayer and concentration. she returned to her son and said, "you know how sometimes you fall asleep in the back seat of the car when we are on a long trip. and the next morning you find yourself all tucked into your very own bed and and you think how very good that feels. you know you are there because your daddy picked you up from out of the back seat of the car and put you there and tucked you in. well, dying is like that. Father God lifts you up out of where you are and when you wake, you will find yourself in a very comfortable place, a place you will really like to be in."
that's it. i can see that story as a mom and i can feel that story as a Child of God. and it gives me much comfort.
and now, it is friday nite and i am going to go vege for a while.
toodles.

A very good parody. Thanks!
a metaphor, perhaps. but a parody? i guess i really just don't get that. i don't think the story was supposed to be humorous or satirical.
Opps! Perhaps the word I weanted was parable.
Very cool illustration, Geo. Thanks for sharing.
