Banger, Come Home

ya know, sometimes i just don't believe some things that happen. i just don't get it.

when mr p and i went last friday to see banger the first time and put our bid in for her, mr p kept saying, "yeah, she'll probably get parvo in there." i said "no, no, not to worry, God has this under control....Banger is my birthday dog!"

so today, it is thursday you know, i called. and i actually got a live body on the other end of the phone. that happened after two earlier messages left for a call back made on my behalf by a co-worker went non-responsive. i told the lady i was trying to get a status update on banger and boy did she give me one. banger was exposed to PARVO yesterday!!!! can you believe that????? she tells me i can have her now, today, for $60 rather than $75, under a "medical release." if she made it through 14 days without showing signs of parvo, i would then wait another 10 days for her to rest (Banger, not the clerk) and then they would have her neutered (Banger, not the clerk).

although i was delighted that i could get Banger today, the new circumstances provided a whole new set of...say....challenges. like, what if she does get sick and now i have fork out millions of dollars to fix her, what if she does get sick and poops in my back yard and another dog comes along and gets sick. what if she poops a bloody mess in my house? what if the idjits at the animal control office had done what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it....that i have an answer for....it is: banger would never have been exposed to parvo and she would be home with me tonight!

attempted phone call to supervisor at the direction of the above receptionist. no answer....no return call

phone call back to the receptionist, yes, the supervisor is in today, leave message she will call back. still hasn't happened. they are short staffed and very busy. that is why banger didn't get her medical on tuesday as scheduled and why she was in the cage with a sick dog on wednesday when the sick dog was discovered.

phone call to the animal control DIRECTOR. no answer. message left. "your employees have problems returning calls for one, i hope you call me soon."

phone call to animal control admin office. oh yes, the director is in, i got transferred. he did not pick up,2nd message left and ABRUPT hang up in.

3;00 i leave work to go get banger. we decided we would take her. two minutes out of parking lot mr. director calls. have to pull over to talk on cell. he hears me out. says he will talk to their vet for advice and call me back. office closes at 4 to the public. he call me back 445 and offers to "hold" banger for length of incubation period approximately 10 days. if she shows signs of parvo she will be put down. if she makes it through, she's mine. they will call me.

i will be writing a letter to the county board of supervisors.

pray for banger, please that she does not get sick. the good news is that she was vaccinated upon arrival to the facility and befor being placed in any of the kennels. pray she is covered and does not get sick. Still, not to worry, this is in God's control. i love banger, she is my birthday dog, and i promised i would go back and get her.

pray for county services...that somewhere in their short budgets they can still deliver adequate services to us tax payers rather than just the short end of the shaft.

thank you.

over and out, g'nite.

Oh, wow. I'm sorry, Geo. I'll be praying for Banger.

when banger gets neutered, what will be on the chopping block?

I've never prayed for a dog, but I'll try it.
