Spoons

I have a girlfriend from many years ago that had a habit of calling extreme people freaking (if you will) spoons.  its a term of endearment that i have found ,,,,, endearing.  think about it.  extreme stupidity (for which i have extremely low tolerance) Spoon.  an out of control speeder on the road or a driver that is heavy into conversation with their passenger.  Spoons.  someone that thinks they got the answer...and revels in their knowledge [eyeroll] Spoon.  they are all SPOONS in my book.

but here's the deal.  I have this odd assortment of silverware that i "inherited" from my mother (just stainless steel), many pieces  which i "grew up" with.  one in particular is a serving spoon, the kind with a long handle, and slots to drain liquid off what ever it is that you are serving.  when i came across this spoon many moons ago, it brought such sharp memories of my mom, that i have kept it in a kitchen drawer and have never used it.  probably never will.  i have thought seriously of weaving it into some wall-art to hang in the kitchen somewhere.   and then there is her meat fork.  you know, the one that she forked pot roasts with to turn over after browning them off to be cooked all day.  now the fork, i use all the time.  its a good meat fork. ah...the watermelon knife.  that's her's too.  this year, it has cut up some good watermelon. .

i s'pose there could be a chance if i used these items my cooking would improve.  on the otherhand, you are probably thinking i am a spoon.

Now, that's a spoonfull of a story! I'm thinking that Watermelon knife as you call it, was the same instrument she used to puncture my left thumb.

OK... why use the fork and knife but not the spoon? I do love the idea, however, of making it into some sort of art for your wall. I think that would be super.cool. :)
