then we move out here to the left coast and i find this stuff actually has a name. RUMAKI. i think it is armenian. whatever it is i am sure it is the foreign word for "this tastes like crap".
anyway i have been trying recently to be the "mother that lisa is" (yeah i know it's kind of late as my kids are grown). but i am taking "making dinner" to new heights. and wednesday night, i hit the apex of culinary tastes. now you have to understand i didn't get this round by having a less-than-very-close relationship with food. i can and i have eaten just about everything.
well wednesday night, i got this idea to wrap chicken in bacon in bake it. sounds good. looked it up on the internet, found some recipes, and decided to make it simple. chicken, green onion, tomato, sprinkled with garlic, leave off the salt because of the bacon, and bacon. oh my gawd. and i am only saying that for sound effects here...but it was AWFUL. horking awful. it was so bad I did not eat it AND i did not even try to explain to my husband why he should get over himself and eat it. it tasted like RUMAKI ,,,,,, with green onion.
1. do not BAKE this recipe.....the bacon never gets...um....done (?) i am sure it is done, but it never looks like it has been cooked.
2. do not BAKWE green onions...it must change the chemical compound of the plant. im tellin you that is some nasty stuff....and it permeates whatever it is being cooked with.
3. and it doesn't get better if you let it sit for a couple of days.
have a good day ;)

Perhaps you just don't like bacon. I love to wrap shrimp with bacon and grill it on the bbq. But bacon must be crisp for me to eat it.
see...moderating comments is too much work!!
Make it, then take it to a potluck, then slip out the back Jack. And get some decent utensils. That might be the problem. PC is the Best!
what a schmooze!
lol
asparagus wrapped in bacon is grrrreeeat!
Let me tell you about something my friend calls Heart Attacks. I *love* them! Take mini hotdogs, wrap with bacon, sprinkle with brown sugar, and bake until the bacon is done. MMMMMM Yummilicious!
At a show I had recently, they also did the same with dates, but I didn't get to try them.
Not sure why you didn't like your chicken dish... maybe it was the onions or the bacon wasn't done enough. But have a Heart Attack! You'll like it!
would heart attacks with dates be considered heart attacks?
i think it was the green onion that didn't work. i might be so brave as to try the wrapping thing again, but not w/ green onions. bleck! it still makes me hork.
