Love

First Corinthians 13

Christmas Version
If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows,
strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls,
but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another decorator.
If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies,
preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime:
but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another cook.
If I work at a soup kitchen
carol in the nursing home
and give all that I have to charity;
but do not show love to my family,
it profits me nothing.
If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes,
attend a myriad of holiday parties
and sing in the choir's cantata
but do not focus on Christ,
I have missed the point.
Love stops the cooking to hug the child.
Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.
Love is kind, though harried and tired.
Love doesn't envy another's home
that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.
Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way,
but is thankful they are there to be in the way.
Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return ;
but rejoices in giving to those who can't.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things
endures all things.
Love never fails.
Video games will break,
pearl necklaces will be lost,
golf clubs will rust;
But giving the gift of love will endure.

what is it that we are missing?

possibly nothing. mi spouso has been unofficially retired for over a year now...some people call it unemployed. he says he's retired. whatever. so yeah we are chowin' down on the uib uncle sammy sends us every couple of weeks. and quite frankly, there is no shame in it...it is one of those funds we all paid into at one point or another....along with our previous employers. so what if we run it out...the pension years are soon upon us.....any way...you get the picture.

but today, a temp agency called on behalf of the local "career services center" known other places as the edd office or the UNemployment department a true tax dollar sucker in its own right. well first he is informed there is a job available but is asked if he would be willing to accept eight bucks an hour!!!!!!! c'mon. that is less than half of what he was making!! have we worked ourselves out of a job....we are talking about someone that has work history and 15 years of experience in the field!!!! or have we just worked ourselves into a frenzy?

not connecting, guys. his pension stimulus pays him more than that to stay here at the house and wait on me!!!!

so yes, its a frenzy. laughable.

to those that ask...

To live victoriously, every day we must learn to pour out our hearts to God, confess sin daily, acknowledge every hollow place, and invite Him to fill us fully! Then we need to continue to fan the flame of His love by reading Scripture, listening to edifying music, and praying often. We also need to avoid things that obviously quench His Spirit. ...make sure you are not hindering the process ~ God will begin to satisfy you more than a double cheeseburger! ~~ Beth Moore, Breaking Free

considering the double cheesburgers in life ~ make mine God.
